Expectedly, the fifth installment in Rockstar and Take 2′s gaming masterpiece will be the most profitable piece of entertainment of all time. Of course, this statistic is somewhat inflated due to the $60 price tag, but this is just another opportunity to realize what modern-society’s interests really are. Sex, drugs, and violence. Especially the violence part, as Call of Duty Black Ops 2 was second place behind GTA.
The classic argument of violent video games influencing violence in the streets will be further perpetuated with this game. Not only have the graphics improved, but the story and theme of the game is a comical satire of modern society. It mixes violence with real world issues that we face everyday. The map is gigantic and the soundtrack is amazing. San Andreas is filled with an environment that mimics and makes fun of a modern day world that we can all relate to. The Apple iPhone is called the Life Invader iFruit, and it competes against the Drone. There’s beers named Piß Wasser and Douche Ale, there’s their own version of the Facebook offices. There’s even a town called “Morningwood.” It’s just really deep and well thought out and you can tell Rockstar spent 5 years making this game. I have only been playing this game here and there and it’s just mind blowing how real they got this. It literally blurs the lines between game and reality in some ways.
I knew this game would be awesome, but it is one of the rare occurrences that I bought a brand new Playstation 3 game and felt it was worth it. It brings new life to a console that will eventually be replaced by the PS4 this holiday season. It’s a masterpiece in gaming, and I can’t wait until Grand Theft Auto Online comes out (October 1st). I wouldn’t be surprised if Rockstar and Take Two get sued for this game at some point but they will have plenty of money for attorney fees and settlements.
It really makes me wonder, what’s Grand Theft Auto VI gonna be like? Or will it even come out? Would GTA get blamed for enough people’s decisions to pass some sort of legislation that bans this type of content? I’m not sure. I also don’t know why I even asked all those questions in a row but I honestly did not expect this amount of no-limit content within a living world. It really does leave you mind blown. Grand Theft Auto IV was my favorite game of all time (Besides Gran Turismo 5) , and it is going to be replaced with GTA V.
